Mentoring
There is so much more than fun you can get from working with children. I have learnt so much and got a huge amount out of it. I would never have predicted I would go on and pursue a career within the education sector. Youth Volunteering
The opportunity to work with young people as a youth volunteer is both fun and rewarding. Several of our Senior Plus students have taken the next step of training and self-development and are able to deliver drama sessions to our students of an excellent level. The one-to-one mentoring these young people receive from our experienced drama providers gives them an insight into the world of teaching and professional coaching in a subject they are already passionate about.
The benefit to our younger students is huge, having a drama coach the children can relate to, have fun with and ultimately aspire to is really motivating for them.
Our young volunteers are given many opportunities to learn transferable life-skills that they can use in their employment or study choices and its always a joy for us to see who our young volunteers become and what they achieve. It is always a delight to see our youth volunteers putting back into their club and reaping the rewards that come with it.

'Friends of SYD'
Adult Volunteers
We have great opportunities for interested members of our community to join as a volunteer helper at our drama club. As a family member of one our students, a member of our community who may have a particular area of interest or a skill they may have to share, we would be very much interested.
We value the amazing support everyone in our community offers SYD and the invaluable contribution our 'Friends of SYD' offer when helping at major productions.

We are particularly keen at present in anyone interested in learning the skills needed to assist with our sound and lighting design. If anyone has some experience, or would be interested in learning the skills needed, we would be delighted to hear from you.
